Choosing a therapist is a big deal...

You need to know that your hopes, dreams and wishes for the future are in good hands. So let me  give you a flavour of what it's like to work with me.

MindTr!p Hypnotherapy in Kinross

Hi, I’m Elaine

I'm in my 50's and that means I've lived through a good few of life's ups and downs.

I’m not just bringing my training into the therapy room – I’m bringing real life too. I know what it’s like to juggle family changes, bring children up and have them leave home, navigate the ups and downs of menopause, and care for a parent with dementia. I’ve “gone back to school,” started again later in life, and faced those moments of wondering what’s next. All of this means I really understand how it feels when life feels messy or overwhelming – and I also know it can get easier, lighter, and more hopeful again. That’s why I love helping others find their way forward too.

What would working with me look like?

There are so many paths to becoming your best self. Our job is to find yours.

We start with your vision – before we talk about problems, we talk about possibilities. What would life look like if this issue was resolved? We get specific, detailed, and excited about your future.

We work as a team – hypnotherapy is collaborative. You’re the expert on your own life, and I bring tools to help you access your own wisdom and resources.

55 minutes of focused work – we’ll talk, we’ll laugh (probably), I’ll gently challenge you when needed, and we’ll end each session with hypnosis to embed the changes at a deeper level.

Good kind of homework – between sessions, you’ll have practical tools and exercises designed to fit into real life and strengthen the patterns we’re building.

We track progress together – each session, we’ll celebrate what’s working and adjust what isn’t. You’ll be amazed how quickly things can shift when your subconscious mind is on your side.

My approach to therapy

I believe you already carry the strengths and resources you need – my role is to help you uncover and use them.

We don’t need to pick apart every detail of the past. Instead, we focus on creating the future you want, without having to relive old wounds.

I’ll gently challenge unhelpful patterns and the stories you tell yourself, because sometimes a new perspective makes all the difference.

I keep things real – no jargon, no therapy-speak – just honest conversations between two people working things out together.

And I focus on what’s effective. Your time matters, so if something isn’t working for you, we’ll adapt until it does.

Women navigating change

I especially enjoy working with women who are adjusting to life transitions – children leaving home, caring for parents, changes in relationships, retirement, or navigating the menopause.

I also support women dealing with stress, anxiety, weight concerns, alcohol habits, career changes, or challenges like interviews and presentations.

Together we explore values, rebuild confidence, and help you reconnect with “your thing” – so life feels more fulfilling and more like yours again.

Hypnotherapy for children and teenagers

Supporting children and teenagers is a big part of my work. With years of experience working alongside young people and their families, I know how overwhelming anxiety, school stress, or low confidence can feel – and how much it impacts life at home too.

In sessions, I create a calm, supportive space where children feel listened to and understood. From as young as five, they can learn practical tools to manage worries, build confidence, and feel more in control.

I’ve seen young people return to dancing after an injury, rediscover the joy of activities they once avoided, cope better with school pressures, and bring a greater sense of calm into their everyday lives. The shifts they make are often remarkable.

You can read more about hypnotherapy for children and teenagers here, and I have written a couple of articles which you can find here. One of them is written especially for children to read, or for it to be read to them.

And in my other role.........

Independent celebrant in Scotland - Celebrant Ceremonies by Elaine

Outside of hypnotherapy, I’m also an Independent Celebrant, creating ceremonies that celebrate life’s important moments – weddings, vow renewals, naming ceremonies, and funerals. Each one is unique and written from the heart, so that it truly reflects the people involved.

You can find out more at Celebrant Ceremonies by Elaine or email me directly at ccbyelaine@gmail.com.
